Today, March 8th, International Women's Day, we want to celebrate each and every woman who is part of Escubedo.

To do so, we've interviewed four women from our team to hear their perspectives on the industry. They are:

· Nadia, Technician in the Quality Department.
· Cecília, Press Operator in the Production Department.
· Rebeca, Planning Technician.
· Carla, Press Specialist in the Production Department.

  • What does it mean to you to be a woman in the automotive and electrical technology sector?

    Nadia
: A constant challenge, a great opportunity for growth and personal development.
CeciliaI enjoy it; as a woman, I love new challenges and pushing myself every day.
RebecaWorking in a job that many people still imagine being held by a man. This is probably due to their outdated perception of the sector—one that is completely archaic.
CarlaI feel very proud to be the youngest woman on the team. Even though this sector is mostly male-dominated, I have proven that age and gender are not barriers to delivering quality work. Being part of this environment motivates me to keep learning and to pave the way for other women who want to enter this field.

  • Which woman (inside or outside of work) has been an inspiration to you in your professional life?

Nadia: Both my mother and my sister.
Cecilia: Honestly, none. I have always considered myself an independent woman, and I feel capable of working in any sector.
Rebeca: I don’t have one person in particular; for me, all women are an inspiration, in this sector and any other.
Carla: Tere was the person who inspired me the most in my job. After returning from medical leave due to a health issue, and despite being close to retirement, she continued to work with admirable energy and dedication. She never stopped pushing herself and taught me many tasks. Her attitude and commitment motivated me to keep learning and to give my best every day.

  • How would you define the role of women in the industry in one word?

    NadiaEssential.
    CeciliaEfficient.
RebecaThe role of women is growing, but it is still limited.
    CarlaEssential.

  • What is the most rewarding aspect of your daily work?

Nadia: Dedication, perseverance, and the results of a job well done.
Cecilia: Learning. Every day, I learn new things about the sector.
Rebeca: Being able to independently resolve all issues that arise and make decisions on how to organize tasks across different areas of the company.
Carla: For me, just being at my workplace is very fulfilling because I feel that I am contributing and making an effort to ensure everything runs smoothly. What gives me the most satisfaction is seeing the positive results of my work.

  • What do you think could be improved to encourage more women to join this field?

    Nadia
: Motivation, promoting leadership, and supporting work-life balance.
Cecilia: Equal hiring opportunities, equal pay, and equal treatment regardless of gender.
Rebeca: Working conditions and the work environment have evolved to the point where, today, practically any task can be performed by a person regardless of gender. However, there is still a lack of visibility and more communication targeted toward women.
Carla: More visibility and female role models. When we see women in technical and leadership positions, we know that we, too, can be there.

  • What advice would you give to a young woman who wants to enter this sector?

NadiaDare to try and don’t be afraid of failure.
CeciliaResponsibility, patience, and a willingness to learn.
RebecaThey should have no doubt—this sector offers many opportunities.
CarlaDon’t be afraid to challenge stereotypes. I, as a young woman, have managed to be here and learn every day. The key is self-confidence and a strong desire to learn.

  • What changes do you think are still needed to achieve true equality in the sector?

NadiaEnsuring equal pay, growth, and opportunities.
CeciliaImproving treatment, education, and respect for everyone.
RebecaThe tasks carried out by women should hold the same value as those of their male colleagues, at all levels of the company and in every sector.
    Carla
Some prejudices still need to be broken, and more opportunities should be promoted for everyone, regardless of gender. True equality will be achieved when we no longer need to talk about it.
